BLACK ERA is a series of street artworks created by Slava Ptrk during his forced exile in Montenegro between 2022 and 2023. Simple geometric shapes, painted with black façade paint, became the artist’s reflection on anxiety, the loss of home, and the search for identity.
The exhibition features photographic documentation of the artist’s street works, along with various materials that immerse the viewer in the context of the project and its places of origin.
The project explores the sensation of an impending catastrophe—one that may have already occurred but remains unnoticed. Black here is not only a symbol of anxiety but also an antithesis to the vibrant landscape of Montenegro, paradoxically named the "Black Mountain."
BLACK ERA is one of the artist’s most personal series—an attempt to comprehend the fear of the unknown and find new forms of dialogue with the audience.
