Artists Against the Kremlin exhibition @ deBalie Amsterdam

"Artists Against the Kremlin" is a major exhibition featuring Russian-speaking contemporary artists who share universal human values and a clear anti-war stance. It will take place at De Balie, one of Amsterdam’s most iconic cultural venues. Through this exhibition, we aim to foster dialogue, raise awareness, and advocate for positive change through the powerful medium of art. We want to emphasize that the Kremlin is not synonymous with Russia. The resistance endures, and our determination is stronger than ever. Our goal is to address social polarization, the experiences of living in exile versus under authoritarian regimes, and explore how art can break down the walls that isolate Russia from the free world.

"Artists Against the Kremlin" will unite creators not only from Russia, but from Belarus and Ukraine. Many of them were forced to leave their mother countries, live in exile and are now based in 25 different countries.
The exhibition will encompass various artistic mediums including paintings, graphics, mixed media, multimedia, installations, and sculptures.

The exhibition will feature artists such as: Linor Goralik, Philippenzo, Mikhail Ray, Danila Tkachenko, Art group Yav, Mayana Nasibullova, Vlad Ogay, Slava Ptrk, Kungfuct, Artem Loskutov, Igor Ost, artisterror, BFMTH, Katya Quel, Liza Pushkina, Nadya Raplya, Kit Hell, AXYXY and others.

* Kristina Burbela's work «Russia will be free» is no longer part of the exhibition Artists against the Kremlin. Kristina Burbela has issued this statement about the withdrawal of her work. In 2022, after the full scale invasion of Ukraine by Russia, she visited temporarily occupied Crimea for an art event. This was organized and sponsored by the Russian state, which has been illegally occupying the area since 2014. This is incompatible with the aim and message of the anti-Kremlin exhibition and with our values. That is why it was decided in consultation with the artist to remove her work from the exhibition.

We always try to make research on artists that we represent during our events. As a gallery we admit our responsibility for this sensitive issue and will further be even more precise in the process of selecting artworks and checking the artist's bio.
