In Russia, there is a saying: "If you were born here, attended kindergarten, received medical care through the mandatory health insurance system, and graduated from university funded by the state (actually paid for by taxpayers), you now owe the state your entire life."

If you are a woman, you are expected to have children; if you are a man, you are expected to die on the battlefield [to extend the dictator’s rule]. In other words, people are seen as expendable resources in the state’s grand design, where the state decides what is best. Men are regarded as direct expendables, while women are seen as tools for replenishing those expendables.

This concept of duty to the motherland is like the original sin, but it is the original debt.
