Sleeping quarters grinding entire generations of young minds to dust.
BFMTH is an entirely self-taught artist from Sverdlovsk, who embarked earnestly into his artistic journey in 2019. His artistic evolution is deeply rooted in a countercultural milieu, drawing inspiration from punk-hardcore music that introduced him to anti-establishment ideals, profoundly shaping his worldview. The subculture, notably Straight Edge, epitomized by bands like Minor Threat and their vocalist Ian MacKaye, has been a significant influence on him for over 14 years.
Fuelled by this musical inspiration, BFMTH embraces the visual essence of black metal and hardcore aesthetics found in posters and album covers, infusing these elements into his artistic style. Moreover, the documentary 'Exit Through the Gift Shop,' directed by street artist Banksy, stands as a pivotal source of creative motivation for BFMTH. Beyond his studio practice, BFMTH has ventured into street art, notably with the performance piece 'Putin Behind Bars'. However, his bold street artworks led to confrontations with authorities, resulting in administrative arrest, threats, and an ultimatum to leave the country.
